Selling This Fall? 5 Prep Steps That Pay Off in the North Sound
Fall in the PNW is a good time to list. Buyers who are still looking this time of year tend to be serious, and a well-prepped home stands out when the days get shorter and grayer. Here are five steps that make a real difference before your first showing.
1. Boost your curb appeal
First impressions happen at the curb, and in fall that means leaves and rain. Rake the yard, clear the gutters, power wash the walkway and add a pot of mums by the door. A fresh coat of paint on the front door goes a long way too.
2. Clear the clutter
Buyers need to picture their own life in your home. Pack up extra furniture, empty the counters and tidy closets so rooms feel open. Boxes can go to a storage unit or the garage until moving day.
3. Fix the small stuff
Dripping faucets, loose handles, cracked caulk and burned out bulbs add up in a buyer's mind. Fix them now so inspection time is smoother. Rainy weather is also a good time to check for leaks, so buyers see a dry crawl space and a solid roof.
4. Light it up
Gray afternoons make homes feel dim. Open every blind, swap in warm bright bulbs and turn on lamps before each showing. Bright, cozy rooms photograph better and feel better in person.
5. Price it right
Pricing is the biggest lever you have. A price based on current local sales, not last year's, brings more buyers through the door early, when interest is highest. We can walk through recent North Sound sales and show you where your home fits.
